Bug or just lost in electronic limbo

StarFleet Carl 🚫

I posted the most recent chapter to my current work in progress on Friday evening at the usual time.

I got the e-mail saying it was posted today at noon. Friday evening until Sunday noon? Mind you, the chapter posted like normal on Friday, which is why I thought it odd the e-mail didn't show up until today.

That IS odd.

I can't think of any mechanism on the site that would do that.

If it ever happens again, keep me posted and I'll investigate deeper.

Email isn't always instantaneous. Could be a routing issue somewhere in the middle.

You're right.

I didn't check the story before I replied.

The story was updated on 2019-10-11, 10:17:29 PM, which is Friday night. So the message got to you late, while the chapter was posted promptly.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. Yes, the story did post promptly. This is the first time I've seen more than a full day, though, in getting an e-mail through cyberspace since, you know, the old days of AOL dial-up. That's what really struck me as odd.

I work in corporate IT. I've seen that happen with automated emails sent from certain servers at my employer. All within the company's internal mail servers, nothing even going out to the internet.
