Just posted there, (then deleted) seems to be working perfectly.
I go to the basic Forum link, it shows updates in Lost Stories. I go to Lost Stories, it shows no updates. Could be post and deletes I guess. Could be something else. Something sinister.
Perhaps joy is trying to take over the world. Again.

I noticed such behaviour in the forum in the past, and when I spent the time and trouble to check every dang post I found it was usually due to someone having edited a post as having triggered the update alert, but since there's no new post it doesn't stand out in the actual page because the original post had been read and it's not the latest post.
edit to add: I don't know the code used, but I assumed the fact the edit with the new time stamp would be listed in the database would trigger the alert based on the latest date of a post. Am testing this right now with this edit.
Further edit: The edit showed a new date in the message but didn't show it as an unread message.

I didn't think editing triggered update alerts. However, I have on occasion composed a reply, posted it, thought better about it then deleted it; not very often though (maybe once or twice in the past year).
