Chapter titles in chapter list?

Michael Loucks ๐Ÿšซ

A couple of my stories have the chapters titles showing in the chapter list displayed to readers. Most don't. Whether the story was reposted or not doesn't seem to make a difference.

I don't believe I've set any options which do this. Is there a way to control this behavior?

On the 'Detailed Info and Stats' page for each story (which can be accessed in multiple ways) there's a Show/Hide TOC toggle. When it's set to Show (ie the Box says Hide), readers should be able to see the chapter titles.

Just to make it easier to find, it is located at the bottom of the Detailed Info and Stats page.

I've checked, and all of the stories seem set correctly to me (i.e. they show 'Hide TOC' at the bottom of that page). I tried changing it on one story, then changing it back, to no effect Of the 18 stories, only four (I think) display correctly. Here's an example:

It's set to show the TOC but still shows me chapter numbers. I switched browsers to make sure it wasn't a local caching issue.

This setting (which you have set for all your stories correctly) only works for stories having 50 chapters or less. It's done this way because this setting would force a lot of scrolling if the story has many many chapters.

Aha! That explains it. I didn't look at chapter count as a deciding factor. And it makes sense as to why I was confused.

Thanks for the explanation.

Umm, yeah. Imagine "Arlene and Jeff" with chapter headings displayed...
