Bug in Category Search?

Switch Blayde ๐Ÿšซ

Lazeez, in case you didn't see this buried in another thread, there may be a bug in the Category Search.

I did a search with a - in front of 2nd POV just to select one category. Then I chose "with a score of 10 or more."

When I sorted by name, a list of stories appeared with no score.
When I sorted by score, it said no matches.

This is the issue with the scores on stories with less than 20 votes. The story has a score, but it doesn't display a score until there are 20 votes so the outlier removal is actually doing something.

When the results of the search aren't sorted by score, you see the stories that have scores but not enough votes for the score to display. When you sort the results by score, those results get filtered out by the sorting algorithm.

I don't understand that logic. I would run the criteria against the data and get a file of results. Then I'd sort that file. So the results should be the same, just in a different order.

From what Lazeez has said in the past the system actually has two scores stored, the main score and the displayed score. The search uses the main score, but the score sort uses the display score.

Rows in the search result with no display score can't be sorted at all, so they vanish.

I believe the two scores are the (1) raw average and the (2) calculated score based on the algorithm. The former is only seen by the author in his stats. The latter is the one displayed for all to see.

The search uses the main score, but the score sort uses the display score.

The votes mean average isn't used for anything on the site. Only the weighed score is used. For display, for search and for sorting, it's the weighed score.

I fixed the bug. Now when you select a minimum score, the search will make sure that the story has enough votes (different sites have different minimums) to show a score.

I fixed the bug.

Thanks. It works now.

FYI, in the Category Search I was able to search with a score of 9.5.
But with the Advanced Search it said the "from" had to be 9 or less.

That's fine, just inconsistent.
