How hard would it be to add an option to restrict a search to only premium stories or only free stories?
There also has been times I have wanted to do a search restricting my results to stories only in a series or universe.

I've asked for this before. There are a few universes with a large number of stories.

I don't see much point in this - if you are a basic member, then Laz would rather tempt you to upgrade by listing the premier-only stories as well. If you are a premier member you won't care about this if you are maintaining premier status, and if you're planning otherwise then why should Laz assist you in identifying those stories you'll lose access to?
I agree about the universe/series searches, but this would likely be a premier-only feature added to the 'Other Meta Data' panel (combo-box drop-down to select)

That could be true, but Lazeez wants the free member to experience the site. I believe (and I may be mistaken) the results for a Category Search for a free member is limited to n-number of stories. What if they were all premier stories the free member can't read? He wouldn't get an experience of what SOL is like.
This has been broached before. I believe Lazeez was satisfied there would never be more than one or two in the ten available to free members, and they act as teasers to encourage readers to pay for premier membership.
It will be interesting to see whether this issue gets revisited in light of the new archive function.

... there would never be more than one or two in the ten available to free members...
That may have been the ratio before, but with so many being moved to the premier archive, it is possible that the ratio will change dramatically. I am sure that Lazeez will keep an eye on things and make an adjustment if necessary.
Of course, the free members can always add more specific tags to the category search to get better results.

A serious suggestion here: how about a new category search term "free"?

Can't. A free story might turn into a premier only story. Then the story tag won't match.

I was thinking is should be doable.
If the Category "Free or Premium" is added, then it's just a matter of the engine searching for stories that have the Premium flag not set/set.
EDIT- Ernest beat me to it.

No, not a tag authors apply, but one which the system catches, using it as a switch to only list the non-Premium stories.
It'll take more coding, but it directly benefits the free readers while still preserving the reminder they'd benefit from joining.

won't work, but the 'Premier Members Only' stories have a tag for that, so the use of a search tag of 'Premier Only' that can be used to restrict to or exclude such stories should work.

That's extreme, even with this sudden infusion of new OLD stories into Premiere-dom. I don't think that many of the top lists will be for Premiere stories, but it benefits the site if a few are, as then it encourages readers to try the pay side of things (like they do in Amsterdam!).
