Forum: Bug Report and Feature Requests

Read/Unread in the forum.

Looking at the forum, I can see which threads I've looked at easily enough (they're a different colour) and I can see which ones I'm "up to date with" because their background is shaded.
Some time a few weeks ago that second part stopped working properly. When I post something to a thread it now appears immediately (before that I needed to hit "refresh", this is an improvement) but the index entry is no longer shaded, even though I've seen my own post.
Of course if someone else also posted to that thread while I was perpetrating my update, all bets are off.

Update: this does not apply with a new thread, like this one.

Yes, its seems odd that the system thinks I haven't read my own reply to a post, especially as it now shows it to me immediately without having to read the refresh button. Perhaps it's too complicated to determin whether someone else replied to the post in the interval between me reading the post and when I hit Post to reply.

I just tested it and it worked as expected.

I replied, and the page refreshed and my own post was not marked as read, as it should (because I haven't seen it posted), and then, I clicked 'All Thread by Date' and the thread was correctly marked as read.

In the past, when you clicked 'Refresh', your post was not marked as read, and if you have navigated away from the thread without clicking 'refresh', then the thread list would show the thread as new (no shading).

As far as I can tell, it's behaving exactly as intended.

I just posted to a thread, my contribution promptly appeared (as unread, no problems there).
Then I went back to the "All Forum Threads" index and hit "refresh". That thread is showing as having a new, unread post, and that the newest post is by me.
Maybe it's down to expectations, I can see my contribution in the other tab and as far as I'm concerned, I have read (and written!) it. To me that would say that I don't need to go back and read it again.
Hitting "refresh" in the tab where the post is showing, followed by refreshing the "All Forum Threads" index tab finally shows it as having been read.

Maybe it's browser specific. I tested it more than 10 times using three different browsers (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. All on my Mac), the thread was correctly marked as read in the thread list.

I can't replicate the issue.

My primary browser is Seamonkey, Firefox's parent.

@Dinsdale

It could be that Seamonkey handles javascript redirects differently.

Try it on a browser Lazeez has tested with.

I use Safari on my Mac, but that browser doesn't work correctly on the State of Arizona's websites. When I used to call and complain, they told me to use another browser because Safari isn't tested on their end. So I installed Chrome and use it for the AZ websites. I've also had problems with Safari with Chase and other sites and had to use Chrome until they got around to fixing it on their end.
