I've noticed that if I'm halfway through a long chapter (or a long one-part story) and close the browser (or tab), it positions to the same point when I reopen that page. This works when I'm reading the story on SOL (or the other two sites), it also applies if I'm reading a downloaded copy offline. Definitely a feature, not a bug.
If I delete the pages I've read from the browser's memory (trivially easy for Mozilla-based browsers), it no longer knows I was "there" and starts chapters at the top.
Not knowing how to delete stuff like that from browser history is a big reason I gave up on Chrome-based browsers. It is possible, but it took me ages.
I have noticed that as well and it feels off at times, part of it is scripts running tracking which i sorta wish the page was just text and no scripts at all!
I will read a bit go do something and the phone has to refresh the page which feels wrong when it should be in the cache ( not active memory but on disk ) so it should pull from that vs asking site for things
In this case no, these are new chapters supposedly though the author is redoing some? Or i misunderstood why the story was in the new chapters area?
The jumping down is caused by the auto-scroller. The auto-scroll function saves the page's URL and the last scroll location in the browser's local-storage and retrieves it from there. So if there is a location saved for the page, it can only be there if you have visited the page.
If you're absolutely sure that you've never visited those pages, then there is something not from the site doing it and I have no control over that.
I suspect its because the chapters got messy .. the story got finished then re opened re done?
