Forum: Bug Report and Feature Requests

Just a little request

LonelyDad ๐Ÿšซ

I use the search feature regularly to see if a specific file is already in my library of saved stories. Right now, if there are no hits the program displays a note saying just that. I think it would be useful to have the program display a 'Finished Search' type note when one or more matches have been found, so one doesn't have to wait a little to see if any more matches show up. I would be greatly appreciative. thanks for running a great site and all the work you put in to keep it up.

I'm a bit confused.

When you say 'program', do you mean the website or a program on your computer?

If you mean the website, the feature you're asking for doesn't apply.

In all the search functions on the site, like Advanced Search, Category Search, and Contents search, there's no gradual display of results. It's either yes or no. You don't have to wait for more.

If it's a program on your computer, then you need to ask whoever created that.

I apologize. You are correct - after reading your reply I realized I am using the Firefox search function. I conflated SOL and Firefox because I have SOL open, with the Firefox directory screen right beside it so I can check if I have saved any stories by an author when going through the new story entries on SOL.
Thanks for taking the time to correct my understanding. I just want you to know that SOL is one of the mainstays of my day now that I am retired and can indulge my penchant(desire/need) for reading, mainly fiction. I hope all your issues are as easy to resolve, and again, thank you for your wonderful site. I admire your ability to cultivate so many wonderful authors and maintain such an organized forum for them and their readers.

I think from Laz's point of view, it's not so much 'cultivating' as 'trying to herd a bunch of unruly squabbling cats ...'

Why not use the green arrow to know if you have downloaded the last version?

Personally, I just check the visited status of the download buttons.

@Gauthier

When I said I was checking downloaded, I was checking my library to see if I had cownloaded ANYTHING from that author. If I had, then this one goes too. If I hadn't I need to decide if it sounds good enough for me to add to my library.

PS: FYI I am very aware of what the green/gray dots and arrows signify, but if it is a new story...

I guess by "My Library" you mean your locally downloaded files.

Then maybe, you should use the follow author site feature.
Identifying if an author is followed would be faster than a local search.
