Cover images in ePub

a) I like the new cover images now being included in the downloaded ePub. Nice font choices, nice design.

b) I strongly recommend that you add max-height:100% to the CSS for img -- on my ereader, for example, the image is getting cut off right in the middle of the genre line, which means I can't even see the StoriesOnline.net credit at all.

Working on an update with varied designs.

Sure, done. But, it will show up after the update is deployed.

I've updated the system.

Now each genre will have a different background color.

If any of the background color and font color combinations are not contrasted enough let me know.

Let me know if the CSS code for the height works for your reader.

Coo โ€” I'll let you know if I notice anything after I next have a chance to download.

CSS works fine. Haven't sampled all genres yet, but so far the contrast has been good in b&w.

One more thing about this -- some stories have author-supplied cover images, but these are not being used in the ePub. They used to be. (Sometimes -- sometimes they didn't appear in the ePub.)

Is it worth considering adding an If statement, author's cover exists use that, else use site-created cover?

I'm working on an update to the system that will replace the current one with actual image templates and author provided covers.

The current way that author provided covers are handled, it's just an image inserted as a tag and nothing more. So the epub creation bits don't understand it. They insert the generated cover first and then the cover provided by the author is copied as any other image inserted into the story.

However, this change is fairly extensive and complicated. It will be a while before it's deployed.

Gotcha โ€” thanks for the explanation.
