SciFi Stories site

oldegrump ๐Ÿšซ

I was just over on the SciFi site and was looking at a story. When I went to download it there was nowhere to do that. I thought that I needed to sign in, but when I went to my account all my info was there.

Is that a true glitch, or do I need to back out of one site to get to another?

Works for me.
Edit: I went to the site by right-clicking on the Scifistories.com link on the SOL main page and then "Open Link in New Tab". Maybe you need to delete the cookies associated with the (Scifi) site and try again.

@Dinsdale

I opened the link in a new tab. The were no buttons to download stories on any author pages.

Download buttons require premier service. You have premier service on SOL earned with posting stories. Author premier service works only on the site where it's earned. So, you get premier service on SOL, but not on Scifistories.com, nor Finestories.com.

Only paid membership covers all three sites.

So there are no free downloads on the other sites. Perhaps I should remove my stories as I have never put them behind the paywall. 100+ stories this site has made money off from and privileges that I had before I wrote and posted a single story are denied me.

You're free to do whatever you want, and we will always comply with your wishes regarding your stories.

However, your stories aren't behind any paywall and are being distributed absolutely free to any comer, they don't even have to log in to read any of your stories since we implemented a log-in-free day pass.

I note some (many ?) authors have submitted some of the same stories to both SOL and FineStories, usually with FineStories being a subset of the SOL ones. I don't look at SciFiStories much so it may not be true for SOL/SciFiStories.

Maybe you could review all your stories, and submit any that meet the site requirements to SciFiStories and/or FineStories. That way, you could earn premier service on those sites too (*). You may need to rework some stories to meet the requirements of the other sites.

Anyway, think about it.

Ian

ETA (*) I have no idea how many stories you would need to submit to earn premier service.

IIRC, it's not a number of stories. It's x KB of stories.

This is a note from the author story states page on the total for the size column:

This number is the size of text qualifying for premier service. If it is over 500, then you should be getting premier service on the site, or you will after your next post. It's calculated from the regular size and the score. Better quality stories are worth more. Stories with multiple authors are divided among all the authors.

Stories with multiple authors are divided among all the authors.

No longer applicable (See below) Presumably Lazeez will delete that at some point.

I've decided to remove support for multiple authors per story (introduced in 2001).
