Hamburger scrolling question

StarFleet Carl ๐Ÿšซ

When I read a story, I typically read it fast enough, I use my mouse button for scrolling.

But at times, I want to write a comment at the bottom and sometimes those get lengthy - okay, I'm a wordy bastard. Thing is, I'll be typing and suddenly the screen will start scrolling up on me. In the little hamburger, I can hit the button to tell it to stop, or just hit ESC. But is there a setting I'm not sure about so it never STARTS scrolling?

I noticed the problem too. It now seems fixed to me.

It seems like it was for a while - and today it was back.

I was on Grey Wolf's Variation of a Theme comment page and writing my comment, and after about a minute or so 4, it started slow scrolling up again.

Annoying Javascript!

For the second time: Fixed. I think.

I'm going to go with, it's on my end, somehow or other.

It happened again today when I was leaving my comment on Grey Wolf's page while on my desktop, BUT ... when I went to repeat it as an experiment on my laptop, and AGAIN on my desktop, it wouldn't repeat.

The scrolling can be triggered by the escape key and the - (dash) and = (equal) keys. The - and the +/= change speed and if you trigger a speed change while not scrolling it starts it.

I added some code to the mail form to stop the dash and equal signs from triggering scrolling while typing into the form. Now it may be that the flag is not properly set in some cases and still trigger scrolling when you type a dash.

That's EXACTLY what caused it. Here's my comment:

Second is - 17 year old girl, who is in the room that everything is being paid for by her friend. She's going to feel a responsibility to help keep his costs down. Sure, her meals are being charged to the room, but typically room service costs are higher. That also presumes she even considered it in the first place. While they've shown room service in movies, she may not know that it's available in hotels outside of New York. If her family didn't do it - and she hasn't done it during any of the trips - it may not have even crossed her mind. She's also still a member of the human race - meaning a social animal. Going out of the room and eating in a restaurant is a social thing - AND at her age, probably what she's used to doing when staying at a hotel. It lets her KNOW she's not some horrid creature, in spite of what her parents think. To repeat myself - 17 years old,

I was typing replies to comments in my own story this morning, used the dash in that screen, and it triggered scrolling.
