I played a bit with the filters for the random story from the archives in the homepage.
It seems like the score filter... isn't filtering. Am I doing something wrong?

When you say 'Played a bit with filters for the random story' I don't know what you mean.
The 'Previous' link that displays all the stories previously selected at random doesn't allow filtering or sorting. So how did you play with the filters exactly?
The 'More' link allows filtering the same way as the new stories or updates do, using the codes exclusions and author exclusions, but that's all, no sorting, so scores never come into play.
so scores never come into play
I think he's referring to the "Show Stories having a score no less than:" in the "Home Page Random Story Display Preferences."
Sorry, I should have been clearer: I set up the preferences so that the 'random story from the archives' is supposed to show up a story with an 8.0 score or higher.
It... doesn't. I mean, stories show up but the score is completely random.
Changing 8.0 to any other number doesn't seem to change anything.
The "Random story from the archives" ignores all filters.
There is supposed to be one for Premier members and one for Freebie members - so that Freebies don't get served with stories they can't read - but in my experience (as of a month ago) even that is not true, Freebie members can be served with archived stories and they can't read them.

That preferences page does not apply to the home page random story display. It applies to the 'Randomly Selected Stories' page accessible by clicking 'More' in the random story display header.
The preferences page was mis-titled. I fixed the title.
