I tried writing a story in a pokemon-like universe a few years ago. Now that i've gotten some writing experience under my proverbial "belt" i suddenly realized a story in a pokemon universe would be pretty perfect with some western like tropes. So i was wondering what sort of western tropes would other people here use?
I just remember it from Western Movies and TV shows and Yosemite Sam in the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series.

It might be better to go further east and use Wuxia tropes instead. The Japanese pocket monster theme would fit well with the Wuxia beast tamer cultivation theme.
Every time I think of a Pokemon story that would fit my ideas, it comes down to an all-girls monster girl school where a boy with an androgynous name (Like Kelly or Alex) name ends up being mistakenly transferred and becomes the collector and feels he's got to bag them all.
Yea i can kind of relate to that, for me its somewhat between an isekai and western theme though. I was somewhat inspired by a story i read called "virtual reality pokemon" by deathlynx. Then i realized an R rated pokemon universe could get pretty interesting.
Allow me to present some of my logic
First let's assume for various reasons this pokemon universe is being run exclusively by scientists.
Second with pokemon battles being televised in this universe i don't believe for a second there isn't some sort of gambling going on.
Third it seems to me these pokemon criminal groups ie "team rocket" either have unethical scientists in charge of them or on their payroll.
Now with these assumptions in mind there are a couple of things worth considering.
If you do any level of reading about the creatures in this universe you'll learn there are "psychic" pokemon with attacks like "hypnosis" Now if we consider the earlier assumptions i mentioned does anyone else besides me think we're a couple steps shy of a criminal sex slave ring where the victims get their identities erased or put under mind control?
Another thing is that some pokemon just have kinky potential, like my favorite example the electric type pokemon "rotom" which if you reverse the spelling becomes "motor."
Now what you need to understand about rotom is that it can "possess" electrical devices and basically control them. In the tv show it's usually portrayed as possessing various electrical appliances and in one case a lawn mower (flimsy excuse for giving it a grass type)
I don't know about anyone else but the primary question i just had to ask myself was "why stop with appliances?" I mean what's to stop multiple "rotom" from possessing various kinds of electrical driven sex toys and on a playful whim descend like piranha on some poor female pokemon trainer to make her sexually submit?
Then there are all the Nurse Joys and Officer Jennys, which if we go with the earlier assumption that this universe is being run by scientists i have to assume they are "clones" or "stepford wife" like types on a practical level. After all the "star wars the clone wars" anime i've seen, I kinda want to explore the dynamics of environment vs. nurture.

Actually, way back when during the age of "Flash" if i remember correctly there was a porn game along those lines done by a company i forget the name to.
Heck, why not add in some other Japanese tropes?
Throw out the ball, and from it appears a tentacle rape monster.
Or from it appears a crowd of "Salarymen", who then surround and molest the opponent or handler as if they were on a crowded subway.
Or the seductive neko-kitsune, which then seduces them and wins the fight after exhausting them through sex.
Or if the creature is summoned is male, the one pulled in opposition is an amazingly sexy nude female version of the same creature, causing the male one to burst into a spontaneous nosebleed and losing all its hit points.
There are a ton of Japanese tropes that can be pulled.
