The robotic takeover has started

Tw0Cr0ws ๐Ÿšซ

Covid-19 was the perfect excuse

@Tw0Cr0ws

I think that it one thing has been painfully obvious over the last dozen years (since I spent so long in the field, studying AI issues, I saw it coming form way back), it's that due to the inherent flaws in Artificial Intelligence, there will NEVER be a Robotic and AI takeover.

Artificial Intelligence has never once been about actual intelligence, as it's always been 'programmed' to achieve a specific thing at a time. And when it does, it parses through millions of reams of paper to come up with answers, which are automatically flawed, since they all rely on inherently faulty assumptions. Thus they end up producing results based on small subsets of data (older white men) concerning how every human on earth supposedly reacts, the results are hardly meaningful for anything more than getting a small roomful of ... you guessed it, older white men, to approve of an overly ambitious programming venture.

Having watched the AI industry develop over the decades, it's flaws were easily discerned by anyone not married to the work. And if that's actually the only thing that the world's most 'elite' thinkings and programmers can come up with, then not only won't we be replaced anytime soon, but we'll never solve anything as pedestrian as gun violence, global warming, constantly changing airstream currents or moving humans to another planet once we make this one utterly inhabitable.

Thus, the ultimate protection against our annihilation by machines is our own inability to prevent our killing ourselves!

It started long before that, look at how many times a robot like CAPTCHA controls our access to things on the Internet.

There are no humans working at PayPal, due to concerns for their health of course (it couldn't possibly be because robots do not need paid but humans do).

Likely true, but also remember the crazed zombies sitting in the US Congress get paid despite their inhuman attitudes and behaviours.

That is what you get when you let the crazed zombies write the rules.

That is not even close to a robot or AI.

Simply an algorithm that tries to validate it is an actual person on the other side by using things that most computers can not identify and answer. Like a series of letters and numbers so skewed that systems like OCR can not recognize. Or a series of photographs asking the user to click on any that feature the object being looked for.

Not anywhere even close to AI. Even the primitive Tic-tac-toe programs of the 1960's had more intelligence than it does.

It has to be intelligent, because the latest variant being used by some websites refuses to even send me the funny little pictures to play with. I'm sure it's angry at me for not running the Windows software it can take over control of.

Tight.

And I am working at the moment on a system that uses Linux, and have no problems at all. Sounds more like those websites are the ones with the issue.

And Windows is no more insecure than any other OS. It is simply the biggest one in use so most hackers go after it. Mac, and all the others have just as many (and many of the same flaws) as Windows does.

There are several sites I go to that use CAPTCHA, as of January 2021 no problems with accessing them. In Feb 2 sites updated to a new version of CAPTCHA and I've not been able to get into those sites since then - support requests on the issue are ignored. The other sites haven't followed the upgrade and I can still access them and see the CAPTCHA images. The issue is related solely to the latest version of CAPTCHA. I suspect it's an issue with the new script or they changed CAPTCHA services to one that's a problem.

I agree with that sentiment.

I don't have a robust personal definition for AI, but I would expect a genuinely artificially intelligent system to produce outputs not predictable by taking the inputs and manually walking them through the system.

I share Crumbly Writer's cynicism as to whether there are any genuinely artificially intelligent systems currently in existence.

Something interesting has come out of this Covid adventure. Locally at least (but it seems to be a widespread problem) all of the fast-food establishments are failing.

Not because people aren't trying to buy their food, but because it is nearly impossible to find workers who can comprehend simple concepts like 'burgers should be cooked before they go into a bun'.

Now they are demanding $15 an hour to stand around playing with their cell phones and ignoring the customers.

Only robots will save the industry, if they're deployed in time, but frankly, it's ok with me if they all fade away.

After watching Dorsey and Zuckerburg on tv, I have no doubt that they are artificial lifeforms. All the money and resources they could want.... and that's how they choose to look? Definitely not human!

Nah, I don't know about Dorsey, but I'm certain that Zuckerburg is a space alien. Something along the lines of Zoidberg from Futerama.

There is something strange going on (probably faulty genes).

I was doing some research and found a photo of 8 sorority sisters taken at a southern college in 1920. All but one I would classify as beautiful.

I also found a photo of some cheerleaders at a southern college taken this year. One was close to a 10, the others I wouldn't have given a second look when I was their age. (And when I was in college, I was pretty desperate!)

They had the same strange facial structure as Zuck.

Maybe there was something to those stories of alien abductions after all?
