This is something that occurred to me while i was writing a harem story i've been working on. Let's suppose a female "shapeshifting" monster girl has to go into a high school environment. How would you write it? Because after considering it, i realize that some kinds of female monster girls might not have a concept of "high school." Not to mention what kind of hijinks does she get into?
First you need to define what you mean by shpaeshifting.
Does she have a few discrete forms like a werecreature?
Is she a polymorph (like Odo from STDS9). If so, are there limits? Is she limited to living creatures? Can she do inanimate objects? Can she do specific individuals?

By 'transform into' I presume you mean that she can change her appearance to exactly mimic the female she sees.?
What very few address is that simply adopting the size/shape/outward appearance isn't enough. By the time girls (or boys) reach high school age they have learned many skills we take for granted, many require muscle memory to a greater or lesser degree.
Having a shapeshifter transform into a high school girl and instantly know how to walk in high heels, (for example) simply isn't creditable. Yes I know that one shouldn't let simple facts get in the way of a story, but maybe more authors will address such things. Some have, such as Morgan's story Kathy who whilst not a shapeshifter, does possess abilities that are reasonably explained/justified.

If the monster girls are living/hiding in the midst of human society, I would expect that they would understand the concept of high school".

You see i'm not so sure about this one, hence why i'm asking about it. It's because i have to wonder if a monster girl that live/hide in human society would they interact with people enough to learn about it?

Living in human society implies interaction.
As to hiding in human society and avoiding interaction, if the monster girl has at least human level intelligence, and can understand the language of the area, then observation should be enough.

something i was contemplating, about this a "shapeshifter" that hides in society, it would have to pretend it was around 25-30 right on average?
Now if they had to go into an environment to pretend they were around 14-18 i mean that's a whole different set of rules to consider.
I'm honestly wondering if i should be looking up some ecchi school mangas somewhere.
