Drank from a wolf's paw print.

Tw0Cr0ws ๐Ÿšซ

In the John Wayne version of True Grit the Texas Ranger brags of 'drinking muddy water from a wolf's paw print' and being glad to get it.

In legend drinking from a wolf's paw print causes you to become a werewolf.

So I have had the idea of a werewolf Texas Ranger for a while, but no more than that for the story.

Was that why the Lone Ranger's bullets were silver?

Too light and too hard to make good bullets. IIRC: In the movie serials there was at one point, some nonsense about them being more accurate because of the purity of silver.

With modern ammo against were creature and other supernaturals vulnerable to silver, it would be more effective to go with silver rather than copper jacketed lead slugs. Cheaper than solid silver, without the negative impact on ballistic performance.

Silver can and has been made into bullets. It's 10% less dense than lead and resides between lead and copper in hardness. It's shear modulus is high enough to be used as a bullet as well. Wherever you got the information about it being too hard from, got it wrong.

He left them as a calling card of sorts, but I don't recall him actually shooting them.

However, it would mean that he was likely to have them on hand while others would not.
