James stands 6 feet 2 inches, weighing 220 pounds, and is a super jock in high school. He is the star quarterback, a martial arts expert, and an avid outdoorsman and hunter.
Lillian stands 5 feet 4 inches, weighing 100 pounds, and is a super nerd. She excelled in chemistry and physics.
They are hijacked into a fantasy world with swords, sorcery, and mystical creatures.

The switch is that James is now in the body of a 5' 6" 140-pound out-of-shape wizard apprentice, and Lillian is in the body of a 6-foot Amazonian warrior.

Were they high school sweethearts? Perhaps childhood friends who grew apart? Maybe they only slightly knew who the other one was?
Does Lillian now know how to be a warrior, or does she only have muscle memory and instinct to rely on? Does James remember enough to train her?
Will James now be able to mix potions and remember spells? How much will Lillian be able to help him?

I wouldn't change their personality and core skillsets, despite the body appearances and assigned roles, making both very much mixed class, and hinging the success on cooperation.

First, it's just too good of an opportunity for comedy.

Second, a scrawny wizard appropriate martial artist and somewhat shy overly intelligent amazon warrior are far more interesting.

Third, the necessity of them to swap either skills or expected social roles before they realize both can be hybridized and the resistance that occurs write the story.
