I had an idea for a funny scene, feel free to use it if you like.

Story set in the late 1970's or 80s. Parents go somewhere and leave kids with British grandfather.
"Let me tell you of my adventures back when I was a soldier in service of the mighty Empire."
Girl asks in horror, "Your boss was Darth Vader?"
"Hehehe! No, no, real life. Not Star Wars."
Boy asks, "The real Empire? Did you know Cleopatra and Julius Caesar?"
Gramps chuckles. "Hahaha! How old do you think I am, lad? No, not the Roman Empire, the glorious British Empire..."

A cute story, though it's fairly limited as far as a plot premise goes. So perhaps something like "when lives lost and victories gained were real, as were the utter death and destruction," as it puts a whole different spin on it. As it's more akin to a modern "When men were men and women were oh so much hotter!"

So maybe "When Empires were more dear than a two-hour show."

Again, a great premise, though a little overly specific and more focused on a children's tale (usually NOT SOL's forte). ;)

Then again, what else would children expect from their own 'Creepy Uncle Petes'. Plus, with a children's story, you can write it like One Thousand and One Nights, which had a lot more hijinks than most childrens stories.

There's very little plot and almost no premise, which another writer will need to add. Basically, I came up with a few silly lines based on the word "Empire".
Timing is specific because Star Wars came out in the late 70's, and a soldier from the UK before it declined in WW2 would probably be too old to babysit after 1990 or so.
I hope it's useful for somebody else's story, or inspires the creation of something better.

As it is presented, it could be developed into a short story. Probably no sex. Maybe referencing previous wars, both never managing to get to the real action, due to interruptions.

"Battle of the Bulge?" But "Grandfather, that's what Mother always says Father is losing."

There have been quite a few stories of the participants of past wars on SOL, and they nearly ALL contain their sexual conquests as well, as that's generally what young men sent into war tend to focus on.

But yes, comparing and contrasting different wars pretty much ruins any potential sexual components.

Though an intriguing variant would be an older grandfather detailing their wartime consequences, and then the youngish lass requesting specifics about those conquest, as the try determine how best to handle those same modern-day situations. That could become quite erotic, especially is each chapter covers a separate 'conquest', including the before and after returning home.

Damn, yet another story I'll have to write. Luckily, the premise works equally well with space sagas too. I can just picture the girl squirming on Grandpa's lap, as he embellishes the story, just to prolonging said squirming, with possible the sisters and their friends also discussing the same events. Especially with each one telling how they got the most exciting stories, so they can try them on their grandpas too.

And who knows, the Grandma's tales of adventure while serving underthe men as Army WAKS or Navel WAVES would also cast whole new light on their services. All while the hapless mother keeps wondering why they suddenly stop talking whenever she enters the room and then tries to weasel it out of their own fathers.

And in that case, no one's likely to perceive it as 'losing', just winning a much different battle of the sexes.
