Origin of the Amazons

ralord82276 🚫

MC is an outdoorsy-type lesbian that finds herself transported thousands of years into the past. She grew up fascinated by all things outdoors but especially archery. She learned not only how to shoot but also how to construct bows and arrows. She learned hunting and living off the land and also enjoyed the physicality of learning several forms of martial arts.

Finding herself stranded in the far past, she is at risk from the inherent dangers of the time period in the form of slavers, bandits, warring city-states, etc. And being a woman is a detriment to dealing with those in charge in those times. She ends up fighting a lot and rescuing other women in peril and teaching them how to defend themselves. They swear fealty to her and they work together to build a community and defend it, eventually becoming well known for their archery and fierceness as well as only allowing women in their community since the vast majority of them were rescued from rapes, slavery, etc at the hands of men.

Well, it's a cute idea and why not, but just for the record, the actual "origin of the Amazons" are the women of the Scythian steppe who lived and fought alongside their men as fully equals. And we have evidence, such a fourteen-year-old girl buried with all honors of a warrior, including a very cute lightweight battle axe in her grave goods, and by her skeletal evidence, she very likely did die using said axe in combat. And... Scythian wasn't so much of an exception Greeks and thus the western historical tradition in general makes it seem, it was the general practice at the time in large parts of northern and eastern Europe. The abrahamic patriarchal norms are foreign for those lands, and many others.
