I think that's pretty realistic.
Aliens who would want us dead can do it in so many ways and so easily any scenario of prolonged struggle is a ridiculously narrow space of probabilities.
Aliens who want a colony with local workforce will just as likely negotiate their way in top down, or make such a broadside of public relations only zealot theorist groups would offer resistance.
And magic... as the saying goes, any advanced enough technology is indistinguishable from magic (for those not adept in creating that technology). And aliens who can come here in flesh, can bend space (and thus, by necessity, time) and that's definitely magic.
