MC (late teens/early 20's) is studying quantum physics in college. The college is involved in running several quantum experiments in which he gets involved as part of his studies. There is an accident at one of the labs and as a result (which he doesn't really understand or even realize at first) his body's atoms are quantumly entangled across time. Not allowed to continue his studies while the accident is being investigated, he returns to his single mother's house.
His mother and grandmother have both heavily flirted with him during his teen years always saying how much he was growing to resemble his father/grandfather. And the first thing his mother says upon his return home is that now he looks exactly like his father.
That night as he sleeps, his body (with its quantumly time-entangled atoms) slips through time, and he wakes up in the past. He is confused and somewhat panicky with no idea how to get back to his time. He attempts to blend in and eventually meets a teen girl and falls for her. They get sexually involved and she becomes pregnant. They are celebrating the news when his body slips through time again, stranding him years in the future -though still in his own past. He grieves at the loss of his love and the family they were building. He searches for her but cannot find any trace of her existence (pre-internet). Eventually he gives up and decides he has to start over somewhere fresh.
So he moves to a new town hundreds of miles away. And there he meets another teen girl that he is immediately drawn to. She reminds him of his lost love so much but has her own quirky personality that charms him as well. They proceed to get involved and eventually get sexual as well. Until one day she reveals that she is pregnant. He is overjoyed and they start to celebrate when once again his body slips through time, again severing his contact with his love.
He finds that he has returned to his own time. Was it all a dream? Or did it really happen? Regardless of the reality, he is emotionally and mentally shattered realizing that he has now lost 2 loves and 2 children.
His mental and emotional anguish drive him to confide in his mother.....who says that she already knew. What!?
She calls her mother to come over so they can all talk. When they get together, the MC's grandmother confesses that she was his first love and the child that they created before his body slipped through time was his mother. Then his mother confessed that she was his second love and that the child they created before he returned to the present time was himself.
His grandmother had never married and after the MC had slipped through time (seemingly disappearing into thin air right in front of her), she had at first panicked and was grief-stricken. She tried to search for him without success and eventually gave up and moved her and her daughter to a new town to start over. When her daughter asked about her father, she said he had died just before they could get married.
When the daughter, pregnant and grief-stricken, had then come to her mother after the MC's sudden disappearance, the similarity of what she described prompted the grandmother to confess that the exact same thing had happened with her. And then they compared photos that they had of their lost love - the MC. Realizing that they had fallen for -and gotten pregnant by- the same person and that he was evidently a time traveler, they were stunned.
Later as the MC was going through his teen years, both women could see the strong resemblance to their love and privately wondered if it was possible that they were all 3 the same person. This led to the heavy flirting that they did with the MC as he matured.
When the MC had returned home from college after the lab accident (he had been away from home several years), his mother could instantly see that he didnt just strongly resemble her love...he was now a perfect match!
And now he had just confessed that he was her past love... and her mother's as well!
So the MC became his own father AND his own grandfather AND his own son and grandson!!
Where do they go from here? Will he slip through time again? Is there anyway to stop or control it? What effect do all these revelations have on their relationships with each other?
