Not sure what the classification

Father Stitches ๐Ÿšซ

Could be time travel (but if it is it isn't here anymore) About a guy who is going to a gun show and he and his truck travel to somewhere else. The roads he knows are still there but are just open areas in the trees, obviously planned but undevelloped. He gets the opportunity to go home and collect people and gear.I remember Walmart parking is used, as well as a diner. I thought I knew it, but was mixing and matching story elements. Rendezvous was one story I was looking for, but not this one

@Father Stitches

sounds like one of cmsix stories. The part about a gun show and driving could also be robledo mountain by Kraken

Dinsdale ๐Ÿšซ

@Father Stitches

Didn't cmsix have something like that? I think you're looking for https://storiesonline.net/s/51104/depression

sounds like it could be Robledo Mountain this if it's the main character.

If it's a secondary character it could be Winds of Change

Good suggestions, but the biggest thing is there were no settlements, the village he comes across is near a river where he ends up catching and killing an alligator, shocking the villagers, and taking the village chief for a ride on a zodiac. When he goes back to the future to resupply on one trip, he buys bass boats along with his (friend/brother-in-law-co-worker, not sure of the relationship) Plus RVs or Trailers, I think trailers because he brings heavy equipment to place them. He buys a lot of stuff at auction.
He travels back by going to sleep in the Walmart parking lot and waking up in that same location in the past.
I remember a lot of the story, but not the title.

I am thinking the story is no longer here since none of my keyword detailed searches find anything. One of the families brought back were veterinarians or breeders

You probably did mix things up with at least one other story.

ETA: premium story, unfinished

@Keet

Easy to do since so many authors took inspiration from cmsix. I have most of the cmsix stories downloaded on my tablet.
Another story along the same lines had a young adult buy a mule and head cross country on the highway to try to prospect. I don't remember as much about it though, just that his father disapproved and wanted him to go to school

I remember this one but not the name or author...did his mom end up coming a while later too?

LonelyDad ๐Ÿšซ

@stitchescl

In the other story, did he join a tribe of Indians and discover a plot to take over areas of the Southwest using modern-day weapons. Later his mother shows up, and it turns out his father was part of the takeover plans.

If it is the one sunseeker and LonelyDad are thinking of it is Finding Peace by Celtic Cowboy

@limab

That is the one I was thinking of. Thanks

@Keet

Thanks. I get frustrated when a story reminds me of another story and I can't remember

I have the series on my tablet. It doesn't fit either of my memories but is a great series.
