Going back into his past

Jumpingfrog ๐Ÿšซ

But he does it by thinking of his life like a ball of string...Yeah the standard quantum leap explanation. He manages to think real hard about a day and he moves his consciousness into his younger version. I seem to recall that he was at his own home when this happens not like in an alien saucer or anything. That's all I can remember. I've looked through the Time Travel and the Do Over tagged stories and can't find it? I'm now off to search the ESP stories and see if I can find it there. Any help would be AMAZING! Thanks in advance!

Does he experiment with the time travel during college with the help of 2 friends? One of the friends turns him into the CIA or other agency in the future cause he won't help him solve every child abduction?

I thought it might be Paul Phenomenon's "Flights of Consciousness" but it doesn't seem to match...

Definitely Hindsight 20/20 by SmokinDriver:

Most of the time, I felt like I couldn't feel or see another part of my string. However, every occasionally I could sense that I was coming up on an intersection, where my string crossed itself. At those points, I felt like I wanted to break free of this reality or path and make the leap to try to grasp onto the intersection and change over to another part of my string or thread.

(Book 1, chapter 1)

Does it involve him finding out that once he commits to a time and makes changes he can't go forward on the new timeline? I am looking for that story, it was unfinished, but they had started using the idea to make bets on horse racing. He had already used it on the lottery and was assisting a homeless vet.

I stopped reading after chapter 14. He updated many chapters, chapter 8 tree(!) times, to solve incongruences and fill plot holes.
When the MC went back in time to follow another branch of possible futures, he told the story again in full length instead of glossing over the unchanged parts and only details the changes.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the story idea and rated it 9=Great, but got finally too frustrated. I thought I'll let him do writing and updating and will continue or restart reading when the story is finished. Instead of concluding the story he stopped posting after chapter 19 (Posted: 10/6/2020, 00:11:21).
In his blog entry of 10/9/2020 he writes:

I'm certain that I'm going to have to stop posting for a while. There will be at least a few weeks, but certainly, less than a month, where I'm going to drop off the radar completely sometime soon.

He came up for a short message (2/6/2021)

[...] I'm still alive and kicking.[...]

Thank you. I was trying to remember this story despite it not being the one the OP was looking for. I was wondering what had happened to it.
