Hi, I can't remember the name or author of this story.
It was "in progress" when I lost it.
An Army woman is sent to a research lab where a wormhole is trying to be created. They create the wormhole, but some grenades(?) come through from the other side, and she jumps/dives/is blown through to the other side, which turns out to be in the future.
It is long after some apocalapse has occurred, and humanity suffers from some affliction where body parts are need to be replaced with mechanicals. The future people converse via the net directly to their thoughts and do not need to speak.
