Forgotten SF Movie Question

dougb ๐Ÿšซ

OK wonderful SOL people I have another not really related to this website question for you. I ask only because the people here are so nice and helpful and surely someone knows the answer. I remember an old 1950's SF movie where aliens give 8 or so people from around the world small container which only the people's minds can open. Each container can destroy another country of their choosing. They have to keep the packages safe for 38 days (or some length of time) and the packages then no longer work. They all decide to keep the packages quiet from the public to stay safe but then the aliens alert the world about their existence. Now countries are trying to find these people so they can use them to destroy other countries. (the evil Red Menace is high on the bad guy list) Anyway, as a kid I loved this movie but can't remember the name. I think it had to do with the number of days the people had to keep the container safe like "The 38 Days" or something like that. Does anyone know?

That's it. Thank you so much. On late night tv you see a lot of old black and white SF but you never see this movie. It is a real shame because this one made you think. Thanks again.
