I've seen a story described like that recently. I thought at the time that I'd like to read it, but I seem to have missed it off my 'to read' list.
Can someone point me in the right direction, pretty please?

The Ranch by chris89 has the same scenario except it was his father's place.
Thanks. Not the one I saw but I'll give it a try.
ETA - I've already read it :-(

For some reason that sounds like something from SW MO Hermit to me but he has a lot of stories and I can't even begin to think of a title.
There was one but it was inherited from a great uncle and he got a submissive who he marries..it was recommended in the accidental master thread. Apparently almost everyone but the MC is a slaver in cumbria. It was Tedbiker's Delilah.
Perhaps 'Enough' by SW MO Hermit is what you are looking for. It is in the DiD universe.
At the risk of being accused of attempting to educate a maternal ancestor in the methodology of aspirating the interior contents of ornitological ova and in view of the fact that your description has not evoked a carpe jugulum moment in anyone could you perhaps indicate when & where you saw the reference?

I thought I saw it on SOL, perhaps as a 'random story' or in one of the recommendation topics, but since I can't find it again and no-one else has identified it, I'm having serious doubts.

I thought someone had searched for that story in the past, in this very forum. I did a forum search a few days ago but nothing looked familiar.

Perhaps you recall some other details. E.g., was the woman a squatter, grandfather's lover, or tenant? Is thw cabin primitive or well equipped? Remote or easily reached?
Eskimo1958 has a similar story, The Cabin Surprise, but it's a forest service cabin where he'll be working. It's not on SOL.

This is pretty much guesswork but I believe the protagonist had just undergone something life-changing, the cabin was remote and the woman was a complete surprise so probably a squatter.

I've read too many cabin stories and I can't pin this one down but it feels familiar.
I think I've read variations like a man has a cabin with a buddy who doesn't settle. Buddy dies and man goes out to cabin to meditation. He is surprised to be co-owning and sharing with buddy's wife or serious girlfriend he didn't know about. Different in all important details but feels similar too.

Wow, thanks! I'm not sure that's the one but it's definitely going on my reading list.

'Enough' by SW MO Hermit
"the old way" by SW MO Hermit
I've added those two stories to my reading list too. SW MO Hermit's stories are always a good read.
