I must be getting old as I cannot remember the name/author of two different stories.
In the first story them/c is an accountant who is cheated on my his wife with the aid of his and her families and all their friends. When he discovers this he leaves and becomes a military contractor and is very good at it and saves lives when a base is attacked in either Iraq or Afghanistan. It then turns out he was a military hero before forgetting about it when he went back into civilian life and became a boring accountant.
With regard to the second story I can only remember one small sub-plot which relates to the m/c getting a number of architect firms to send representatives to his school where he presents his wishes for a small part of a much larger site. Students from his school sitting on the meeting. A young woman was sent at the last minute by a partner of one of the firms and the m/c insists that she be the one from her firm to present her plan. At the presentation meeting the partner has sent her with a generic plan and will not allow her to present her plan and she has handed in her resignation.
Can anybody help please.
