Netting to Hide Kidnappers' Hangout

PotomacBob ๐Ÿšซ

I'm guessing I read this story about a decade ago. There was kidnapping involved - kidnapping of girls.
The kidnapped girls were hidden in a jungle or forest-type place, possibly in the mountains, and the kidnappers used some sort of netting to hide the hideout from aircraft.
A law enforcement was involved in the story, perhaps a sheriff, but I do not recall whether he was a good guy or a bad guy.
There was a rescue scene. I don't remember whether the rescue was successful.
I realize that's not much to go on, but all help is appreciated.

That kidnapping was only a small part of the story in "The Hawk and the Chipmunk" - I think it was somewhere around chapters 28-29. Does that match the OP's memories or was the kidnapping the main part of the plot?

The story I was looking for was "The Hawk and the Chipmunk." I was reluctant to look there because reading 82 chapters on what could be a wild goose chase seemed daunting. Then Dinsdale suggested I focus on areas around Chapters 28 and 29. I looked and Eureka! I'll have to re-read the whole story now. Thanks to everybody who suggested stories - I'll read them all.

Please, no messages to Mike about how it's going. While he's taken over his blog again and appears to have started writing again, he has left me still answering his messages and he's still having intermittent Internet access issues so contact is very irregular.

Curious, Quoting from his blog:

Please pray for me and send words of encouragement often.

and

I also learned that I had (in my burned out state) asked (or caused) for no comments. With my renewal, I would like to request for comments and suggestions for improvement, especially in fleshing out the ending.

(that was about precisely this story)

Edit after another SOL outage: So no "how's it going" mails, the other two kinds are welcome.

True, but he hasn't, yet, redirected the messaging comments to his account and email from mine - which is where it was set to several years ago when he first had major health issues as well as access issues.

Since that blog entry I've sent Mike an email asking him to have the messaging system redirected to his email etc, but I haven't heard back from him for several weeks. The delays in response are common due to his Internet access issues.
