It's not removed. It's hidden for non-compliance with the promotion rules. Once the author catches up to the rules, then it will be available again.

Could you share the "rules"? I'm unfamiliar with promotion rules.

Thanks

6. Teasers and blackmail are absolutely prohibited. (Teasers are any story parts that require or entice readers to read preceding or following parts on other sites or purchase those parts or sending money for further postings.)

17. Promotions: All promotions must be compliant with rule #6. No teasers. No permanently partial postings. If you start posting a book/story on the site, you must complete it if it's fully written. Failure to comply with these rules will result in a permanent ban on posting on Storiesonline.

a. Book Sales: Any promotional links or text to sell your complete books are allowed only if they point to our book shop Bookapy.com. Progress must be made at least weekly until the work is complete on Storiesonline. You authorize WLPC to complete the posting on Storiesonline in case you are unable to do it yourself.

b. Writer support (Patreon, Subscribestar etc...): If you promote your writing on Storiesonline and ask for financial support, you must keep the progress on Storiesonline relatively close to your postings on your support site. You must keep the work on Storiesonline within two instalments of the work on the support site. If the work is completed on the support site, then it must be completed on Storiesonline within two weeks of the completion on the support site. Failure to keep up the progress will result in your work on Storiesonline being hidden until updated with new parts.

c. You are allowed two (2) ads at the end of your stories here pointing to works on Bookapy.com. You can manage ads using the Storiesonline's 'Manage Stories' functionality.

d. Blog Posts: Posts on your blog deemed as non-compliant with the promotion rules will be deleted.

e. These rules will change as needed to keep up with new issues. It's your responsibility to stay current with any changes.

I thought links were not allowed in Blog posts, even those to SOL sites like Bookapy. I thought if there's a link, the blog post won't show up on the home page. Is that correct?

The quoted rules above talk about deleting non-compliant blog posts. But there's deleting the blog post and then there's not deleting it but also not displaying it on the home page.

So if I have a link to Bookapy for a newly published novel in a blog post (with the active link), will that blog post show up on the SOL home page?

I do not know. I avoid using links in blog posts.

Before yesterday, the algorithm was too blunt and blocked any blog post with a link.

I've worked it yesterday a bit and I think it works much better now. It allows blog posts with links to the WLPC sites including Bookapy.

Thanks for posting the rules that apply to Tefler and TSM, particularly the one quoted above. I had no idea posting stories was so ... regulated is not quite the correct word but close.

Posting stories isn't regulated. It's only when it's tied to something for sale.

No, the admins do not proactively check every submission from problematic content.

If something stands out in the story description as an obvious violation, they might check, otherwise they rely on users reporting content violations.

So,if they are found to break regulations, they are re-moved. Isn't that regulation? Do you see what I am saying? Anything that has to follow regulations, is by default, regulated.

Although it appears that I am being argumentative, that is not my intent, it's more of an observation. I shall move on... :)

You on the other and tried to support the regulated argument by claiming submissions were checked for prohibited content. This is untrue.

I once submitted a story that breached the rules. It was posted briefly (ie it was 'up' on the site for a week or so) then it was brought to the admins attention, who removed it and informed me as to why it was removed. I corrected the issue, re-posted and everyone carried on normal jogging, so to speak. My point of curiousity, is that once it was brought (rightly) to the admins attention, they must have checked it to validate that site rules had indeed been broken, then taken the appropriate action.

So while I agree that the logistics makes it hard to regulate all stories on submission, the story's (and in indeed the site) are still 'regulated' in that, yes, users may flag up breaches, but surely admins still have to check that breaches are made otherwise people with axes to grind would just flag postings of people they have issues with?

Obviously all of it, as I was replying partly to o_rios2013 and your comment which I quoted. I failed.

Is this the point where some wag points out that "What we have here is failure to communicate." And yes, I suppose that's rhetorical.

You thought wrong.
Just think about how many new (complete) stories and how many new chapters of serialized stories are posted here every day.
To check them all would be a full time job for more than one person. You would have to read every story even if you dislike or hate it. I wouldn't want this job.
AFAIK, Lazeez relies on the readers to report violations of the rules.

HM.

The posting process is not regulated. The story content has rules, but not the posting process which is what I was replying to.

So I can post a chapter a day. One a year. Leave a story unfinished. SOL doesn't care as long as it doesn't break the teaser rule.

Even odder. Tefler's listing in the author list says he has two stories but only one shows on his author page.

I wonder if Lazeez did something to hid it because what he has posted on SOL is too far behind what's available on his patreon page.

142 recently had part 2 posted on Patreon, so it's a bit more than 3 parts behind. Has been for awhile, I know he had family stuff take him out of production for awhile and it took a long time to get back on track, and the updates for lit and SOL never caught back up.

When Lazeez said he was 3 chapters behind, I read that as not being 3 chapters behind his Patreon, but 3 chapters behind the maximum allowed gap between what's on his Patreon and what's posted to SOL.

You must keep the work on Storiesonline within two instalments of the work on the support site.

This seems relatively clear and concise. If you're at Chapter 140 on your support site, then SOL must be at Chapter 138.

Laz allowed more than ample time from Chapter 137 being posted for the next post to show up here, as stories stay on the Top 50 Ongoing Serials List for a period of 30 days, and it was there every bit of those 30 days.

@StarFleet Carl

If 137 was the last chapter posted on SOL (can't check right now) and his Patreon has up to 142, well 142-137 = 5.

5 less the two chapters the rules allow A Patreon site to be ahead of SOL = 3.

Oh look, that matches how far Lazeez said he was behind.

I didn't argue about that at all, did I? I simply pointed out the exact rule, and that was it. I swear, sometimes I just want to say, "Bless your heart" to you.

When Lazeez said he was 3 chapters behind, I read that as not being 3 chapters behind his Patreon, but 3 chapters behind the maximum allowed gap between what's on his Patreon and what's posted to SOL.

You do realize that the other means of reading it was possible until the clarification was made that the difference between SOL and Patreon was 5.

Yes, Laz said SOL was "3 parts behind" but the Patreon provisioned allowed for it to run 2 parts ahead. So someone could honestly assume upon hearing that SOL was on part 137, that Patreon must be on 140. As being on part 140 would also put SOL "3 parts behind, rather than 2" and thus in violation.

Yes, but I was the on that asked and how much he needed to post here to get back in compliance was what I was looking for.
