I would like to reread a story from a while ago. A diabetic in a jeep leaves Chicago(maybe)and ends in the mountains with a bunch of Vietnam vets. He refinishes furniture for a living lives off grid. He has a dispute with a crooked bureaucrat over the property he buys.
