Junkyard story

weejock 🚫

I have just read "Junkin Duncan" which was one of the replies to qqq's question. Can any body tell me the title of a story about a junkyard owner who has a breakdown recovery truck. I think the junk is mainly old cars. He gets called out by a law officer to tow in a woman's car. As payment she helps him around his house, and so on. Somewhere I am sure there is man, with family, who has, or access to, a collection of old car manuals of some sort.
Reading "Junkin Duncan" brought it back to mind. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can't start listing junkyard stories without mentioning the Needles and Delaney ones by Todd_d172. The first is "An Angry Man". The others are Unreasonable, Implacable and Unstoppable.

"Junkman" by Howard Faxon here on SOL

'To Walk the Constellations' by Dragon Cobolt and 'Guardian' by Ka Hmnd both start in space junkyards.

Thank you all, now I have enough reading to cover not only the footie but probably most of the plink-plonk of Wimblers as well.

If you haven't started yet, save "Needles and Delaney" for last. If you don't, it'll spoil every other story for you. They may be two of the best characters on SOL.

Nope.

You need to allow for The Wendy, spooky, Angel, jinxy, not to mention a certain soldier girl…

Also, to be fair there are characters created by other authors that should be considered.

I think I recognise a couple of those, but not all. Would you care to share titles and authors? At the moment, I'm leaning towards Needles and Delaney.

They are all characters in Todd_d172's stories, most of them in The Shack and the other one in St Clair.

Thank you.

Since I've read those stories but only a couple of the characters stuck in my mind, I'm sticking with Needles and Delaney.

And I'm kicking myself for not picking up on JoyR's 'other authors' remark.

Since I believe that everyone who wants to be a politician should be lined up against a brick wall and shot, why on earth would I pay to join their loathsome ranks?

Of course he is paying me!!

But being a gentleman he settles his account by treating me as the lady I'm not.

I had to get really close to the screen to read that. I think you're causing me go blind.

Ahem… The screen is over here.

Monster is one of the most interesting characters I've seen in a while. Simon in Tom Frost's Too Much Love is another. Both are trying to fake being human.

Another tale that starts in a junk yard is Zoras' Giant's in the Sandbox. It quickly moves on to feline alien space battles and an planet wide pandemic, so the junk yard isn't really a huge factor.

Supposedly the two finals are on the same day. And probably, as usual, no Brits will still be around.
