Kid gets A patent when he is under 18 years old. Dad lies to him, put the patent in dad's name. Kid disowns the family and wants nothing to do with them. Eventually, he develops something else which will make the old patent obsolete. He gets engaged to a long-time girlfriend with whom he has a so-so relationship. He tells her his family isn't to be invited to the wedding. She goes behind his back and invites them anyway. When the question is asked "Does anybody have a reason...", he stands up, says that his intended is deceitful, and walks out of church, with his friends following him.
