About not linking to other sites...

There are already two threads deleted where I answer title and author to a request for a lost story, without mentioning other sites, just saying "not here". I can understand no links, but a simple "not here" is also grounds for thread deletion? Specially since I don't know if the asker ever read my answer and found his story.

Did someone else post a link?

I suppose you could always say "answered by PM" (and do it).

Lazeez would have to state the official policy.

That said, my observation would be that complete thread deletion is reserved for cases where the requester was seeking a specific story he/she knew wasn't here.

I don't like to lose readers and even when there is no link (everybody can search for story title and author name), I noticed a dip in story access when I leave info about a story on another site up, especially if it sounds really good.

So when a query is answered, I leave it up long enough for the seeker to read and then when enough time has passed, I remove it.

You can also answer it with a private message and reply on the forum that you did so.

Thank you.

This is why I am vague when referring to a story on another site.

For example, one in here is an edited and expanded story from another over 20 years ago. When somebody was looking for it, I said the name of the author and story of the original along with the version here, but mostly because I found it interesting that somebody picked such an old story to edit and revise.

I know why you don't like people posting links to the other site but i don't agree with the reasoning for it. When i think of this site i think of it being more about real stories with actual plot whereas when i go to to that site it's usually always for stories that tend to only have erotic content. I use both sites frequently and there's never really any overlap in my opinion so i never quite understood why links weren't allowed. All of that is going off the assumption that there isn't any beef going on between you and the "webmaster" of the other site.

SoL = Actually reading good stories

Other Site = Quick Fap Stories

That's how iv always saw it anyways.

You can only speak from your point of view. I see the backend of the site.

When you're dealing with a 500 story accesses per second up to 3000+ per second, you see the behaviour of thousands of people at the same time, you start seeing different trends.

While the forum seems slow, the readers are orders of magnitude more than the posters. Hundreds check the story recommendation and the lost stories sections.

What doesn't affect you personally (a link on the forum or a compelling description of something on another site), affects enough people to show up on my monitoring tools.

All of that is going off the assumption that there isn't any beef going on between you and the "webmaster" of the other site.

I have no beef with anybody except my butcher.
