Many years ago I have read rather long story about a man/girl (I don't remember) who got in the middle of skirmish between werewolfs and hunters. Rescued by one of the hunters hero gradually joins them. Hunters were clothed in latex as it is practical to wash werewolf blood.
I know it looks like Underworld, but it may have been written before Underworld.
I tried to Google it but as for now without success.
