If I remember correctly that is similar to "A Singular Time" by The Mage in as much as mind control, slaves and a café are involved, but my memory of the actual story is a little hazy.

Sounds like my problem. My mind has a perfect memory unit, except the auxiliary memory unit can't remember where my mind left my main memory unit a lot of the time and I have to operate without the main memory unit, and thus frequently run into out of memory problems.

Author's final stories would be last stories. I am not sure what lest stories would be. Lest we forget? List stories are ones on the top fifty lists. There might be Lyst stories, sometimes y. Lost and lust are already potentials or actuals.
There could be lots of --st stories. Best, Crest, Dressed, Undressed, worst, fast, cast, mast (four years before the mast), past, vast, fist, missed, blest... So many I probably have omitted lots. Lots is a ts story, not a st.
