I can't remember the title or author name. Starts early in high school and goes through college. Young man forms dating group, gets a cooking show on television, becomes a martial arts master. His next door neighbor is the the love of his life but she goes off to be a model. He and all his friends go off to college together (to the University of Indiana I believe) and form a commune complete with their own television network.
