Accident sent military/engineer type back to pre Spanish southwest, in the first chapter or 2 the whole village is wiped out by a disease. But the MC and a few of the tribe that listened to him survive. He brings the tech way forward, airplanes and such. He creates a "county" from Mayan Central America to Colorado from West AZ to Texas coast. Any ideas?
The tech is there, but mostly he wasn't pre-Spanish, and he was more Southeastern. And his 'country' was the continent.
But yeah, that was my first guess.
I also wouldn't be surprised if the actual 'story' wasn't an amalgamation of several stories, like that and one of cmsix's...
