That's about all I remember of the story, just the one scene. I believe it was a long story. I believe the MC went on to a long (and prosperous?) life and that in the end, they all lived happily ever after. I believe the MC eventually reconciled with an old girlfriend, but do not recall whether it was the girl in the parking lot.
I know it's not much to go on. But the people of SOL have solved similar questions with even less to go on.
It was a DoOver. Set in Vancouver. MC worked at a brewery while going to university. The girl that cheated on him was a 'new' relationship, he'd originally married another girl he'd dated before, who he did get back together with. Just before the end of the story, he wakes up in the hospital around the same time he originally left, his doctor is the slut ex-gf, he has the same wife as he originally did, but his life was much better than the previous iteration.
I think it was coaster2's story?
Dayum, I was thinking of Coaster2's Life on Another Planet and how many of the details simply did not match the request, but he wrote another story with a similar plot.

Thanks to both bk69 and Keet. The lost story was indeed Repeat Performance by Coaster2. The scene I sought was in Chapter 12 of a 15-chapter story.

Sounds like the beginning of the movie, "Clerks." Did the MC ever yell, "And try not to suck any dicks on your way across the parking lot!" in your recollection?
