Forum: Lost Stories

There's a story that I must've read over a dozen years ago now, and every so often when people ask for a particular type of story I'd mention it if I could remember the name.

Young teen (who I believe was a inventor similar to his father) loses rather wealthy parents (I believe they were weapons contractors) to violence. He goes to ground in the woods, having been trained by a native warrior (either relative or best friend of parents) then makes contact with some army buddies of his father before restarting his life (and trying to track down and gain vengeance upon his parent's killers).

If you substitute she for he, and add that part of the problem was a mob type and his wife who stole/kidnapped little kids 'for immoral purposes.' Her parents were killed because her father's partners wanted to take over his very lucrative business. She and her mentor go ahead and sell the business to them, with them not discovering that she holds all the patents, so they are basically stuck with a shell company and have to service all the customers without any income
The aforementioned wife tried to kidnap the girl as part of the sex ring, which sets the girl on their trail, and with the help of her mentor's old army buddies they discover what is going on and shut them down rather permanently.

Even with that synopsis you should till read the story just because it was written by a very good storyteller, and worthy of several rereads.
