I am trying to recall a story where the MC wakes from a coma and ends up having been given an Alzhimers drug that starts to reverse age him and one female character. They eventually work their way out of the nursing home they were dumped in to live out their lives.
He is also a distant relative of George Washington and was a Sargent in Viet Nam. As the happy couple move to the sticks and reclaim their freedom, they are approached to help build a disaster community in the rural area they settle in.
There are lots of other details but I can't seem to recall the name of the story or who wrote it. I figure the above should be enough for someone to recall it.
