Gun-geek hero meets girl ditto at a multi-day competition. Camping out, one night there's a severe storm and they find themselves in the same place the next morning, but without the rest of the competitors or modern conveniences (1800s?). End up somewhere in Texas - oh, right, there are other time-bounced people, and one of them acts somehow to draw them there. But it's a long trip by way of San Fran, I think. Might be a series of stories.
Thanks. I'm not even certain that I want to read it again - it had a bit too much of "never met a problem I couldn't solve by shooting them" in the plot, but for some reason it's nagging at me lately, like an unusual word you reach for and can't quite touch. :-)
