This story is about a boy/young man that is raised on a planet that is so deadly that the settlers live behind shields/walls, not because of the air/.water but that everything there seems to be deadly to them. This evolves to travel to other planets and how a "being" controlled the evolution of all the "natural" plants and animals on the planet.

Grant You got it right!!! Thank you. I enjoyed this story but I read so many that some get "lost".
Vanessa writes very good stories, but she can't seem to leave them alone and keeps rewriting them with plot changes. It drove me nuts (I know, not a drive - short walk...) so I reluctantly abandoned her. I suppose at some point she will (is?) done with the changes and I will have forgotten enough to try rereading them.

On her blog she mentioned it was to fix up plot holes between some of the earlier stories & the later ones.
It was also meant to be to fix up some of the typos & spelling errors (there were quite a few), but unfortunately nothing much seems to have come of it.
I agree that they were a very interesting series of stories. I hope they eventually get re-posted & the as yet unwritten ones see the light of day.
