MC is considered an easy going chap who works hard and ends up away a lot of weekends but he finishes a job early flies home to surprise his wife and finds her in the basement of his in-laws having an orgy with her family, his family including their children, friends and some co-workers including his boss. He hears them bragging that the children are not his but fathered by her friends going back as far as college and still live near by. He walks out and disappears until they see him on TV some years later because he is a hero of a battle in Iraq. It then turns out he was previously a hero, winning the Medal of Honour, which was ever presented as he had disappeared. I believe that the sound of bees, or similar insect, caused him issues and it is not until towards the end of the story we learn this is because he associates their noise with the helicopter that evacuated him when he was badly injured the first time he was a hero.
