A man in the Air Force is grabbed and put on a 'train' with dozens of young thin teenage girls (except for one chunky girl who is grabbed by mistake) and sent to an underground bunker to ride out the end of the world. He develops a love affair with the chunky girl and encourages all the girls to have sex with each other by overriding the 'censure' monitoring software installed by the government. I recognize the story line and I remember reading it here on SoL about 10 years or so ago, but I can't remember the name or author. I'm pretty sure it was before we had the post apoc and scifi codes, so I'm not sure how you'd go about finding it on a category search. I'm trying and advanced search for you. - not having much luck, hopefully someone else will remember the name for you.

My biggest fear is it may be one of those stories that got pulled by the author. However, I do suspect it's simply because we can't get a good hit on the right categories or description.
I remember the story also. I seem to remember it may have been either incomplete or obviously set up for a sequel. It had reached the point where they were leaving the bunker.
I found two stories that may qualify. They are In the Cia Bunker by Just-this-guy and the other is Retribution by Fel.
My directory search turned up a number of other stories with the word bunker, but these two are the most likely.
Bunker was used in the OP and our comments but was probably not used in the story. It was actually a large man-made cave (what do you call a hemisphere like shape that is less than a half globe?)that had multiple buildings in it. There was a separate huge (nuclear powered?) multistory walk-in refrigerator/freezer. The train/tram/shuttle was very long and twisty (100-200 miles?) and was collapsed in sections behind them as they traveled. The M/C was a pre-selected enlisted man who had just replaced his predecessor and wasn't trained yet. He was ordered/told/encouraged to kill one of the girls during the trip to establish his authority but he refused.
I know I'm too literal but "dome" is the name of a structure or artifact in that shape but I don't think it's the name of the shape itself. Any solid geometry teachers out there?
I just googled it and came up with "spherical cap".
No, I don't remember that from calc, trig or geometry.

For the record, a hemisphere is a common design element among architectural, mechanical, aerospace, etcetera engineers. One of the more famous examples being the Pantheon in Rome.

I tried searches using cavern and cave along with some of the other words I thought would apply as there are way too many stories if I use cavern or cave by themselves.
As I remember it, I read this story at least 15 and probably closer to 20 years ago. My recollection was that it was a good story but that a few parts seemed rushed, like a section of an outline not fully fleshed out. Like an 7.9 story with potential to be an 8.6. It also seemed to be set up to be continued.
Can someone with a premier membership check if the story War Games by Estragon is the story being looked for, please. For legal reasons I can't check the story itself. The author page link is below and the story is from 1999 with no story description. From the story size I don't think it is, but it does need to be checked and eliminated unless someone comes up with the correct story. I've checked over 2,000 stories using various searches and now working my way through a list of nearly 4,700 stories and this is the only likely hit in the first 600 stories covering the period from 1999 to 2002.

Thanks for checking it out - with no description I couldn't rule it out and I can't legally check it myself right now. I've scanned the descriptions of 1470 files in the current list of nearly 4,700 files and up to mid 2007 without spotting a likely culprit. Taking a break and checking more later. I hate not solving a mystery like this.
Thinking Horndog's stories have an MC with a preference for the chunky over the model thin girl. It is also a plot he likes. But some of those stories are on his 'for sale' site.
He does give a reading sample of each story.
The more I think about this, the more details I seem to remember. I think the AF Base was in Eastern Washington, possibly near Spokane. The cavern was under the mountains of either southern Idaho or southwestern Montana. the Cave had a running/walking track around the perimeter. The escape tunnel opened up into Oregon or northern California. Is this stimulating anyone's memory? I'd really like to read it again.
