The Invisible Building

PotomacBob ๐Ÿšซ

A sci-fi dead-tree book from the last decade or so that was made into a movie. I believe it may have been time-travel, but I could be mistaken. What i remember about the book was that an experiment went wrong somehow and it made a building invisible. I hoped they made the book into a movie so i could see how they made a building invisible. I was disappointed because the building in the movie was NOT invisible - it was made out of glass or Plexiglas or something similar. And, as usual, the book was better. I have vague recollections of 1800s New York City in the movie - but that may be false.
I thought Sean Young was in the movie - but I looked through her list of movies on imdb and no obvious movie title appeared.
Anybody remember the name of the book or the movie (I'm not certain they are the same name)?

@PotomacBob

Could be Memoirs of an Invisible Man

Quoted from Wikipedia: " The building seems to explode, but there is no debris. Instead, much of the building is rendered invisible, including Nick."

Memoirs of an Invisible Man is a 1992 American comedy science fiction film directed by John Carpenter and starring Chevy Chase, Daryl Hannah, Sam Neill, Michael McKean and Stephen Tobolowsky. The film is loosely based on Memoirs of an Invisible Man, a 1987 novel by H.F. Saint.

@junior15

"Memoirs of an Invisible Man" is it. Thank you very much. I did NOT remember that the man was invisible. Now that you've reminded me of the cast of the movie, I also remember being disappointed that the movie was a comedy and the book, while it had some humor, was not.
Again, thanks for finding (or remembering) the story.

Just did a google search for movie invisible building

That was a really interesting book. The author put a whole lot of thought into how an invisible man could live in modern (well, 90s) times.
