Lost? Swarm Story

Sparky-1953 ๐Ÿšซ

Back in the earlier years of the Swarm stories I remember one about a facility on the moon. I seem to remember that it wasn't fully completed yet but was a holding area for sponsers and concubines. It was long spiral ramp going deep beneath the surface with quarters and maybe work and public spaces off of it. It wasn't Three Days in the Moon. I'm just hoping it wasn't left behind when the stories were ported over from "that other site."

If the site you are referring to is ASSTR, then they're still there under /~Thinkers_tales (unless the individual story/ies were specifically deleted) - the 'official' swarm site is/was housed there. Quite a few stories at least refer to the moon base (under Artemis crater?), and I've read at least one with this spiral ramp. I remember thinking doing it this way wasn't likely in the real world as it would put adjacent tunnels at different levels, which could introduce unneeded complications at any interface; instead there would be a series of circular balconies connected by ramps - then I decided this could be loosely described as a spiral ramp, and just accepted it. However, I can't remember which story or stories, so I'll leave it to someone with both search skills and saved stories to identify it/them.

@madnige

FYI it appears the ASST has purged a bunch of authors and collections including Thinking Horndog.

I don't know where you got that idea. A simple search for "the swarm cycle universe" turns up with the correct links, both here on SOL as on ASSTR. Thinking Horndog can be found as Thinkers_tales on the ASSTR FTP site.

I know, Sparky was looking for swarm cycle stories and Thinking Horndog. I didn't want to supply direct links because it's a SOL competitor.

When I looked up TH under the authors index he is no longer there. In fact, out of 36 authors listed on TH's old Swarm page, the only one still in the Authors index is Baron Rod. All the alphabetical lists of authors are much shorter than what they were 4 months ago. Several of the alphabetical headings have less than 10 authors listed. There are no authors listed beginning with X. There are NO new authors and less than 10 new stories in the last 14 days. Also, if you click on Collections, there are less than half as many as there were previously. It's almost like the moderator purged about 80% and then just abandoned it. If you know some of the old links you can find some things by sneaking in through the back door but just going to the site and looking at the author index or the collection button is going to be pretty futile.

The index may be gone but the content's still there. Simply append the homepage path I gave to the site root and you'll see it all.

I found all the stories however there has been a couple of more swarm stories that need to be added as they have only been posted just recently

Author Zen Master wrote a series of SWARM stories. Try Independent Command, and maybe one or two others in the series. One of those has the MC building a base in a large moon (not Luna in Earthat) and gives a lot of detail about it, but no spiral that I recall.

But the base on Luna did have several stories describing a spiral, I believe.
