I am trying to find again a story I read several years ago. It starts out with a guy going dear hunting with his father (or grandfather) and being able to feel from the perspective of the dear, its death. Later, his college sweetheart is killed in a traffic accident. He takes revenge on the offender and joins the army. I believe there was even a 2nd story as a continuation where he finds a kid with his type of powers and helps him out. Can anyone help me with the author's or story's name? Thanks!

Since you got your answer this is just a bit of proofreading of your original message. I think you mean "deer hunting" unless he's doing it at a bar or the mall or some other place people of the attractive sex hook up.
