What I remember is that the absent father of the boy is killed in a bar fight, boy saves farm, mother possibly falls for beekeeper, and boy's sister may be involved with him and gf.

There are interesting parallels with Lazlong's 'Help!' - sister ends up in the relationship, mother falls for the gf's father, boy's father absent father killed in a bar fight - but it's not the same story.
Just finished perusing your suggestion. Certainly some parallels but I remember something quite different. Only other recollections I have is that he first spots Honey in her beekeeper outfit while walking down his farm road, the farm & a small trust were in the mother's name, and the father was violent and hardly ever worked, living on the mother's dime till she kicked him out.

Looks like the title is 'Honey' and I downloaded it when JRyter announced he was pulling his stories but I haven't read it yet. I agree with the OP that it looks like he was conflating two separate stories - JRyter's 'Honey' and Lazlong's 'Help!'

Just noticed. Guess it's a case of 'ask and you shall receive'. After rereading I'm sure I won't confuse and combine JRyter's 'Honey' and Lazlong's 'Help!' in my memory. How long I'm not confused is an open question.
