All I can remember is that as the MC travels back to his parents farm, he discovers a stash of gold (bandits ?) which he buries. When he returns he digs it up with his Father.
I thought it was Escape From Lex, but no. Anyone help ?

I knew it had to be one of those, as I'd read them both back to back not that long ago, and I couldn't remember which it was, so I guessed at one and was ready to name the other if I was wrong. It's good you got the story you wanted.
this seems so familiar but I can't remember the title. Does the mc end up with a plantation and freeing it's slaves as well?
