in the story the character is quarterback for his high school stops other players from beating a kid and makes them apologize to the parents and kid. His coach is angry at the way he handled the situation and sets it up so that in training the backup quarterback injures him and then basically starts talking down about him on local radio mean time character falls in love with the sister of the kid.

Cool. I had never heard of this one and I give it a strong thumbs up for anyone wanting a quick and romantic story. Conjured up some feeling in this old Shiner-filled heart of mine.

I read that one - going from the link here - and it looked fairly good until the last chapter. The happy end felt bolted on like Frankenstein's head.
